Valerie Coleman composed American Vein for OboeBass! through a Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant. It's a "Nostalgic look at the best things America can mean for everybody" and a musical roadtrip from the Redwood Forest, via Rt. 66, to the Woodstock of Cage and Hendrix, the Statue of Liberty, winding up at an old-fashioned Barn Raising.
